Mikel Daniel LARKIN Died Last Night

Mikel Daniel LARKIN was born in Chicago, Illinois, December 24th 1867. He came to Nebraska when a young man and united in marriage to Dorthea Martha PETERS, at Freemont, Nebraska, at the age of 33 years.

They resided in Fremont for a number of years where he was employed as a carpenter. The family moved to Bloomfield in 1906, located on a farm where they resided until the death of Mrs. LARKIN in 1936. Mr. LARKIN then moved to Bloomfield where he lived alone until he became ill two months ago, when he came to Wausa to live with his daughter, Mrs. E. B. HALSEY. He continued to fail, and he passed away at 5 o'clock on Friday, February, at the age of 74 years, 1 month, and 20 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing, five daughters and three sons, Mrs. W. D. ROOT, Alliance, Nebraska; Mrs. E. B. HALSEY and Rose, Wausa, Nebraska; Mrs. Oscar GRAY, Grand Island, Nebraska; Mrs. Clarence HARBISON, Bloomfield; John, of Bridgeport, Nebraska; Richard, of Ponca, Nebraska; and Harvey, of Wausa, Nebraska. There are fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two sets of twins each a boy and a girl.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. G. Ellis at the Methodist Church in Bloomfield at 2 o'clock on Tuesday, February 18. He was laid to rest in the Bloomfield Cemetery.

According to what the holder of the plat map stated there are graves in Original Cemetery Block # 4 where Edward LARKIN child of Mike and Dora LARKIN is buried and has a stone marker so by elimination I am assuming the two sets of twins are buried here as well as Dora LARKIN and according to word of mouth this is the location that relatives paid respects too in later years. This is a ruff drawing of plot in column 3 section 7 of the Original Cemetery Block # 4. It is right by the road as you drive in from the north .
