Mrs. M.D. Larkin Dies In Yankton Hospital
Family Was Shocked To Receive News of Death While In Hospital for Treatment of Broken Leg.


Was Ailing For The Past Year

Dorthea Peters was born at Fontanelle, Nebraska, on September 24, 1879, and died at the Yankton hospital on January 4, 1936, at the age if 57 years, 3 months and 10 days.

When a young girl she moved with her parents to Fremont, Nebraska. Here she grew to womanhood and on July 12, 1898, she was united in marriage to Michael D. Larkin of that place. In 1906, Mr. and Mrs. Larkin and family came to the Bloomfield community, living in this city and neighborhood eight years ago when they moved to a farm about 10 miles east of here where they have since resided.

Mrs. Larkin was baptized as an infant in the Lutheran faith. While in this community she attended the Congregational Church. She was known as a Christian woman, pouring out her life in kind acts toward her family and in thoughtfulness to others. She was highly respected by all who knew her. For the past year Mrs. Larkin has been in poor health. Two weeks ago Sunday evening while emptying some ashes , she slipped on the icy walk and in falling broke her leg. She was taken to Yankton hospital for care. It appeared she was getting along all right, but suddenly on last Saturday morning her spirit was called home.

Mrs. Larkin was proceeded in death by her parents, by two sisters and one brother and by four children. She leaves to mourn her sudden death the husband, M.D. Larkin' eight children. Mrs. Naomi Root, of Alliance, Nebraska; Mrs. Marie Halsey of Bloomfield; John of Lusk, Wyoming; Rose and Helen of Bloomfield; Richard of Albion, and Dorothy and Harvey at home; nine grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Adolph Paustian of Bloomfield; two brothers, Henry Peters of Fremont, Nebr.; and John of Hawk Springs, Wyoming; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Bloomfield Methodist Church on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J.W. Ekwall in charge. Internment in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
