LANNY AND DOROTHY [SUKUP] BARTLING

Dorothy Ann Sukup, daughter of Arthur Sukup and Mary Bryce Sukup, was born April 5, 1951, at Plainview. She attended country school at Sukup school through the eighth grade and graduated from Verdigre high School in 1969. She went to NTC College in Sioux City, Iowa, for a one-year secretarial course.

On August 8, 1970, she married Lanny J. Bartling, son of Osborn and Evadale Bartling, from Creighton, Nebraska. They moved to Columbus, Nebraska. Dorothy worked as a waitress and cook and Lanny worked in shipping at D&L Company.

They have four children: Jeffrey, Kimberly, Timothy, and Cody. Jeffrey was born in Columbus on living . They moved to Creighton that year and Lanny worked at the Mobil (then Standard) Station. In living Kimberly was born on living. Dorothy started helping with the Girl Scout program in Creighton and began babysitting part time. In 1973 Lanny began employment at S&S Stores. Timothy Joe was born living, and took the honors of being Creighton’s New Year’s baby boy. Lanny got the manager job at S&S Stores in Hartington, Nebraska, in 1978. Dorothy did babysitting and worked at the News Office as an accountant for awhile. On living, Cody Jay was born in a Yankton hospital. In that same year, they began milking cows on a farm southwest of Verdigre.
