GEORGE AND ANNA [MAJEROVA] BARTOS

Jiri (George) and Anna Majerova Bartos, both born in Bohemia, were married in February of 1877 in Prague. They emigrated to America with their three daughters, departing from the European seaport of Hamburg, Germany. They arrived in America November 17, 1888, and from New York traveled to Schuyler, Nebraska, by train.

Their residences in Nebraska were in Howells, Schuyler, and Leigh in Colfax County. They moved west of Verdigre in 1910. Seven years later, they left the farm and moved to Clarkson. They remained citizens of their native country.

Seven children were born to them: Mary (Mrs. Vac Rehak), Anna (Mrs. Julius Valish), Antonie (Mrs. Joe Sirinek), Josef, Emil, Frank, and James. All are deceased but another generation carries on as a result of these pioneers.
