GREGORY AND ALMA [DWINELL] CAULFIELD

[pg 215 PHOTO Gregory L. and Alma A. Caulfield]

Gregory, the youngest son of Andrew and Susan Caulfield, married Alma A. Dwinell in 1904 and had two children, Clarence Gregory (1905) and Della Ellen (1909). Clarence Gregory Caulfield married Nina M. Harvey in 1936 and settled on the John Dwinell farm in March of 1946. Their only child died at birth. A tornado severely damaged the buildings in April 1985, but they have rebuilt much of the farmstead. Charolais cattle and Belgian horses have become a trademark of the Clarence Caulfield farm.

Della Ellen married Guy O. Best in 1936 and had one child, Alma Ellen. Della taught school 44 years, ten years in South Dakota, and 34 years in the Verdigre High School. She has three grandchildren, Jennifer, Anita, and Julie Anthony.
