JAMES AND KATERINA [KROFTA] DUFEK

James Dufek was born in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska on February 14, 1871. He lived with his parents on a farm in Dodge County for many yeas.

On February 12, 1896, James married Katherine Krofta of Linwood, Nebraska. She was born at Jara on November 2, 1875. They started farming and moved to Wausa in Knox County where they farmed for a few years. In 1901 they bought a farm northeast of Verdigre where they raised cattle and hogs and tilled the soil. In the fall of 1938 they retired and moved to Verdigre.

Their six children were: George Dufek, Verdigre; Emma (Mrs. Charles Pavelka), Verdigre; Mary (Mrs. Paul Drobny), Verdigre; Elsie (Mrs. Jim Sedlacek), Gretna; Clara (Mrs. Ludvick Elis) and Irene (Mrs. Ben Kotrous), both of Verdigre.
