LOUIS AND FRANCES [BARTAK] MARSHALL

Louis Marshall, the child of Ignac and Kristine (Krause) Marshall, was born on January 1, 1861, in Krivoklat, Phatoa, Bohemia. He came to America with his parents in 1868. At the age of twelve, Louis played in his father’s string band called the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra,” later known as the “Marshall Brothers Orchestra,” when they played for dances in the Verdigre area. Because of the Homestead Act of 1862, the Marshall family came to Nebraska and settled in the Pischelville area.
