At the age of 17, Rudolph came to the United States making his home with his uncle and aunt, Joseph and Emma Zdarsky, in Chicago, Illinois. They moved from Chicago to Louisiana where they operated a grocery store. Rudolph and his uncle were both furniture upholsterers. From Louisiana, Rudolph struck out on his own, moving to Nebraska, where he worked in the area west of Verdigre. Some of the people he worked for were Vinc Ellis, Raymond Barta, and Adolph Elis.

On November 26, 1919, he married Tillie Dobrichovsky, daughter of Vaclav and Barbara (Ruzicka) Dobrichovsky. She was born March 9, 1898. The wedding ceremony was performed by Justice of Peace Anton Jelen. Witnesses were Pauline Dobrichovsky and Adolph Elis.

Vac and Barbara were the parents of four daughters: Mrs. Adolph (Tracey) Elis, Mrs. Charles (Minnie) Mlady, Mrs. Rudolph (Tillie) Pavlik, and Mrs. John (Pauline) Simanek.

Tillie attended the Meadow View School, District No. 53. She learned to play the organ when she was young; her music teacher was Barbara Bowman. Her father took a great interest in her music as he himself loved music and was a cornet player with the Kreycik Band. The band played for many dances in Nebraska and South Dakota. When Tillie would practice and hit a wrong note, her father would come in the house and correct her. Rudolph was also fond of music, playing the cornet, concertina, and button accordion.

Rudolph and Tillie made their home with her parents for the first year of their marriage, then moved to a farm owned by John and Josie Dobrichovsky. They lived there for about two years, then went back to her parents’ farm while a house was being built on their own place.

They were the parents of ten children: Leo of Rockford, Illinois, married Julie Jackno; Louis, Verdigre, married Grace Volquardsen; Arvey of Norfolk married Clara Dufek; James of Rockford, Illinois, married Leona Dufek; Mrs. John (Edith) Rudloff, Verdigre; Mrs. Laddie (Jane) Horacek, Tyndall, South Dakota; Mrs. Charles (Elaine) Johnson, West Memphis, Arkansas; Mrs. Frank O. (Blanche) Skokan, Verdigre; Edwin of Norfolk married Jeanene Zila, and Rudolph, Jr., of Norfolk, married Carolyn Prokop.

Rudolph passed away on February 25, 1968. Tillie died November 3, 1973. They are buried at the Bohemian National Cemetery at Pischelville.
