CAMERON, FITZGERALD
This group photo below, was taken in Creighton by J. Demmer some
time between 1900 -1904. The man with the glasses is my grandfather:
Malcolm CAMERON [19 Oct 1873 - 21 Aug 1960]. His family immigrated
from Glasgow, Scotland where Malcolm was born to Schuyler [Colfax
Co.] in 1883.
According to The Chadron Journal, Malcolm CAMERON moved from
Creighton to Chadron [Dawes Co.] 1 Jun 1904 where he was foreman of
The Chadron Times and married [6 Feb 1905] my grandmother Elizabeth
FITZGERALD [16 Apr 1881 - 17 Apr 1938].
I hope to learn:
(1) When my grandfather arrived in Creighton and what occupation he
was following while living there [he was a professional photographer
in Schuyler as late as 1900].
(2) The reason for this photo being taken ... what significance do
the lapel buttons have? Was this a political photo? Possibly
relating to the Populist Party? [The Times was the official paper of
the Populist and Silver forces and Dawes Co. voted Populist as early
as 1896.]
(3) Identification of any of the other men in the photo.
I will be pleased to share the photo and any other information of
interest and look forward to future correspondence.
