NELSON, RUNDQUIST, JOHNSDOTTER
My Great Grandparents, Frank Otto (b. 16 Dec 1857 in Sweden; d. 28
Mar 1933 in Turlock, CA) and Christina (RUNDQUIST)(b. 25 Oct, 1863
in Sweden; d. 18 Feb 1946 in Turlock, CA) NELSON moved from Wausa,
Knox County, NE in 1920 for Turlock, California with their three
children, Selma (b. 26 Aug 1887 in Fremont, NE; d. 1 8 1963), Mable
(b. 28 Jul 1896, d. 12 Dec 1978) and Paul (b. 3 Aug 1906 in Wausa,
NE, d. 6 Jan 1996). I never knew what motivated them to move to
Turlock, California three married children in Nebraska.
Recently I find a postcard photo in an old box of pictures with no
date but a note on the back saying "Paul on roof, Wausa, Nebr." Paul
would have been 14 years old or younger in this photo.
My question, is there any evidence of a devastating tornado shortly
before 1920 that may have struck the Frank Otto NELSON farm. I
understand their farm was on the NW edge of Wausa within the curve
of Highway 121 as it turns north from Wausa. Could the tornado have
motivated them to move to California?
Also, I cannot find the death or burial place of Frank Otto Nelson's
parents, Isaac Nelson (b. 12 mar 1817 in Sweden) and Christina (JOHNSDOTTER)
(b. 6 May 1813 in Sweden). Wausa is one of my prime suspect
locations but I have no dates or location information for this
event.
