RODNEY AND JANE [MALY] BATTOS

[pg 200 - PHOTO Jane and Rodney Bartos, Mandy, Derek, Nicholas]

Rodney Bartos is the son of Frank G. and Alma (Kotrous) Bartos. He has four brothers: Kenny and Rick of Creighton, Frank of Mt. Morris, Michigan, and Bruce of Verdigre, and two sisters: Judi Bingen of Columbus and Fran Kucera of Verdigre. He graduated from Verdigre Public School. During high school he worked at Dwight’s Service and continued working there as a mechanic following graduation. He started his own business, “Rod’s Tune-Up Service,” which was located at Dwight’s Service. He then moved to Hebron, Nebraska, where he worked at Hobleman’s Motor. Rod moved back to Verdigre and joined in his dad’s farming operation.

Jane M. Bartos is the daughter of James C. and Janice M. (Hoffman) Maly. She has two brothers: Terry of Lincoln and Tim of Verdigre. She graduated from Verdigre Public School and then attended the University of Nebraska in Omaha.

Rodney and Jane were married June 26, 1976. They have lived in and around Verdigre for the last 11 years.

Jane worked for Jack Battin, O. D., Maly’s Corner Store, and Verdigre Sand and Gravel until their first child, Nicholas Ray, was born on living. Their second child, Derek John, was born on living. When Derek was six months old, Jane began working at the Bank of Verdigre. She worked there full time except for a three-month leave when their daughter, Mandy Renee, was born on living. In June of 1986, Jane began working as a secretary-bookkeeper at the Verdigre Public School where she is currently employed.
