FRANTISEK AND ANNA [BUSEK] FRANK

Frantisek and Anna Busek Frank brought their family to this country from Bohemia, arriving at Chicago in 1882. After coming to Nebraska, they settled in Saunders County with their children: Joseph, Anna, Frank, James, Mary, Vincent, and Charles. Barbara was born in the fall of 1882 and George was born in 1886.

The family later moved to Box Butte County, Nebraska, where on April 12, 1893, Frantisek and sons Joseph and Frank became naturalized citizens of the United States. This was necessary in order to homestead or purchase land.

It was while they were living here that daughter Mary married Vojtech (Albert) Kroupa. Their son Frank was born July 12, 1895. The Franks and Kroupas left the drought-stricken area and moved to Pierce County, near Osmond, in the late 1890s. Mary died May 3, 1900, and is buried at the Osmond city cemetery . Vojtech was then married to Frances Dolesh and they had four more sons: Stanley, Barny, Edward, and Albert, Jr. Frank Kroupa married Louisa Smith in 1920; they had no children. Louise died in 1967 and Frank in 1975. They are both buried at Riverside Cemetery, Verdigre, Nebraska.

Not much is known about Charles Frank. He was thought to have been a farmer and living at Fremont, Nebraska, at the time of his brother Frank Frank’s death in 1936. He was the father of four children: Vincent, Robert, Mildred, and Ruth. After his death, his wife Helen remarried and moved to California. Their son Vincent visited the Verdigre area in the 1950s, but has not been heard from since. Vincent was living in California at the time.

Barbara did not marry. She died at the age of 19 in 1902 and is buried next to her father.

Frantisek was born January 27, 1828, and died May 7, 1905, about the time that his sons began moving to the Verdigre area. He is buried at Osmond near his daughters, Mary and Barbara. His wife Anna was born in March of 1841 and died at Verdigre on June 20, 1919. She is buried at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Verdigre, Nebraska.
