BLAZEJ AND FRANTISKA [ANDRLE] HAINERAICH
Blazej Haineraich, son of Martin and Anna Scheinor Haineraich, was
born in Beli, Bohemia, February 23, 1857. He came to America with
his parents at the age of four. The family settled in Chicago and
remained there until his mother’s death, sixteen years later.
In 1879, when Blazej was twenty-two years old, he and his father,
Martin Haineraich, homesteaded near Knoxville, Nebraska. In 1913,
his father passed away.
On September 6, 1881, Blazej married Frantiska Andrle, 26. Frantiska
was born at Melnice, Bohemia, March 25, 1853. Her parents passed
away when she was a small child, so at the age of ten years, she had
to face the world alone and make her own living. She took care of
small children and did housework. At the age of 15, she worked for
Matej and Anna Knapp, who later adopted her and loved her as their
own.
At the age of 18 with her adopted parents and several other
families, she came to America where they took a homestead at
Pischelville, Nebraska. Here they worked hard in the early pioneer
days. Their first farming was done with oxen.
After her marriage to Blazej Haineraich, they lived on the homestead
for 30 years and he built a log house for his wife. They were in the
habit of hiding in a certain gulch, fearing Indians. Soon after
this, a number of settlers bought rifles and had also built a fort
of sod in preparation for Indians.
In the year of 1910 they moved to a farm near Jelen, where they
lived for four years. When Blazej’s health failed, he and Frantiska
moved to Verdigre where he died two years late (October 23, 1917)
following an operation for kidney trouble at an Omaha hospital.
Frantiska lived twenty-six years longer than her husband and made
her home with her children, mostly with her daughter, Anna. After an
illness of about 18 months, she passed away at the hospital in
Orchard, Nebraska, on March 18, 1943.
