DESCENDANTS OF JASON HAMILTON
Jay Lloyd Hamilton, father of Elven Jason Hamilton, was born March
17, 1900, to Jason Herbert Hamilton and Rachel Jeanette (Post)
Hamilton. They lived in a dugout on the Niobrara River southeast of
the present site of Monowi, Nebraska. He was known as “Lloyd” all
his life.
In 1882 Jason Hamilton had migrated with his parents, Robert Thomas
and Mary E. (Kelly) Hamilton, to Knox County, Nebraska, in the
vicinity of Grimton, and homesteaded there. They had come to
Nebraska from Independence, Iowa, where Jason was born January 30,
1873. Robert Thomas homesteaded 160 acres and built a blacksmith
Shop near Grimton. They stayed there until 1892 when they moved to
Alford in Boyd County and homesteaded a timber claim.

and lived near Venus and Grimton until December 26, 1927, when Jason
passed away.
Lloyd marreid Loula Ann Hines on March 26, 1924. Lloyd and Loula had
four children: Elven Jason, Eldora Ann, David Lloyd, and Bonna Fae.
Lloyd and Loula lived in Knox County all their married lives except
for two years when they lived on a farm in Antelope County near
Creighton. Most of the time they lived near Venus and Grimton. Lloyd
passed away October 27, 1978, in Creighton, Nebraska. Loula moved to
Verdigre soon after and resides here now.
On September 8, 1948, Elven Jason married Edythe Marie Boelter from
the Venus community. They have three children: Gloria Marie, Diana
Lynn, and Mark Jason. Elven lived with his parents on the farm until
he joined the U. S. Army. When he came home in 1947 he went to work
for the telephone company in Creighton and is presently employed by
the same company now known as Great Plains Communications, Inc.
Elven and his family moved to Verdigre December 8, 1968, and they
presently live two miles west of town. Elven states that Verdigre
is “a great community to live in.”
