NORMAN T. AND DONNA MAE [DIEZ] HAVERKAMP
Donna Mae Diez, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Diez, was born
living. After graduating from Verdigre Public School, she attended
Wayne State and taught rural schools in the area.
Norman (Ted) Haverkamp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hobart Haverkamp of
Creighton, was born living. He graduated from St. Ludger’s
Academy at Creighton. In 1953 he was inducted into the army and
served in Germany.

On June 23, 1955, Ted and Donna Mae were married in the St.
Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre. They had six children:
Theresa, Mary, Kathryn, Claire, Marcia, and Steven.
Theresa married Bruce Bartos, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank G. Barrtos
of Verdigre, on July 2, 1977. They have two sons, Eric and Scott.
Mary married Larry Howard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Howard of
Sargent, on August 8, 1981. They have one son, Christopher.
Kathryn married Greg Vakoc, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Vakoc of
Verdigre, October 2, 1981. They have two children, Amara and Adam.
Claire died March 24, 1978.
Marcia and Steven are both attending Verdigre public School.
In 1890 a warranty deed was granted to Franciska Bachmann, known as
Muma, who was a great-great-great-aunt of Donna Mae’s. Ted and Donna
Mae are now owners of this property.
