FAMILY OF ALBERT JEDLICKA

Albert Jedlicka was born in Bohemia where he married Rosa Paskoc. They had five children: Anton, Albert, Anna, Matt, and Vaclav.

Anton came to the United States, married, and had five children: Mrs. Novacek, Mrs. Ouska, Miss Barbara, a son who was a general in the army, and another son.

Albert remained in the old country.

Matt’s wife was Marie who was born in 1853. She died in 1894 and is buried in Chicago, Illinois. Their children were Matt, Jr., Ed, James, Mrs. Charles (Emma) Vlcek, and Mrs. Frank (Mamie) Dolezal. Matt, Jr., had a daughter Joyce who married a Japanese doctor. Ed’s daughter Vera was highly educated. James, unmarried, was an actor. Emma Vlcek was killed in a car accident. Mrs. Dolezal had two children, Robert Dolezal and Marie (Dolezal) Powell.

When Matt, Anton, and Vaclav Jedlicka were coming to America they were shipwrecked but saved - an experience never to be forgotten! Anton and Matt remained in Chicago, Illinois, and Vaclav married Marie Kalal the day of the Chicago fire in 1871. Soon after, they came to Knox County.

Anna Jedlicka married Frank Souhrada, Sr., who died August 13, 1884. Anna then married Frank Kalal. The couple had a daughter. Anna died November 26, 1889. Frank and Anna Souhrada had five children: Mary Ann, Mrs. Gilbert Johnson, (1869-1936); Anna, Mrs. Joseph Sucha, later Mrs. Raymond Schreier, (1870-1941); Frank (1872-1956) married Christina Pavlik; Rose, Mrs. John A. Schreier, (1875-1947), and Bozena (1878-1895).
