ALVIN AND ETHEL [KONOPASEK] JELINE

[pg 285 PHOTO Ethel and Alvin Jelinek in 1986]

Alvin Jelinek, the second son of Joe J. and Emma (Sukup) Jelinek, was born on living. He attended country school and graduated from Verdigre High School. He then farmed with his dad and brother Ernest.

On June 10, 1947, Alvin married Ethel Konopasek, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Konopasek, at the Catholic parsonage in Verdigre. Ethel had taught school for a year prior to their marriage. They made their home on the Jelinek farm and continued to farm and raise registered Hereford cattle.

Alvin was a director of the Nebraska Hereford Association and secretary-treasurer of the Northeast Nebraska Hereford Association. Alvin and Ethel have one son, Dale.

Dale Jelinek graduated from Verdigre High School in 1969. As a member of the Verdigre FFA Chapter, Dale was the recipient of the State Farmer Degree in 1969. He attended technical school at Curtis and then returned to farm at the Jelinek operation.

Dale married Mary Asimus on November 18, 1972, at O’Neill. They are the parents of Bryan and Jonathan and the family now resides in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Alvin and Ethel moved to O’Neill in 1984 and now rent the farm to Victor Klug, Jr.
