ALVIN AND ETHEL [KONOPASEK] JELINE

Alvin Jelinek, the second son of Joe J. and Emma (Sukup) Jelinek,
was born on living. He attended country school and
graduated from Verdigre High School. He then farmed with his dad and
brother Ernest.
On June 10, 1947, Alvin married Ethel Konopasek, the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Anton Konopasek, at the Catholic parsonage in Verdigre.
Ethel had taught school for a year prior to their marriage. They
made their home on the Jelinek farm and continued to farm and raise
registered Hereford cattle.
Alvin was a director of the Nebraska Hereford Association and
secretary-treasurer of the Northeast Nebraska Hereford Association.
Alvin and Ethel have one son, Dale.
Dale Jelinek graduated from Verdigre High School in 1969. As a
member of the Verdigre FFA Chapter, Dale was the recipient of the
State Farmer Degree in 1969. He attended technical school at Curtis
and then returned to farm at the Jelinek operation.
Dale married Mary Asimus on November 18, 1972, at O’Neill. They are
the parents of Bryan and Jonathan and the family now resides in
Lincoln, Nebraska.
Alvin and Ethel moved to O’Neill in 1984 and now rent the farm to
Victor Klug, Jr.
