ALBERT AND ALBINA [PAVLIK] JIRACEK
Albert Jiracek came to the United States in approximately 1888 when
he was about 13 years old. He came with his parents, Matej and
Ludmila Jiracek, brother Joe, and sisters Fannie (Mrs. Jim Tikalsky)
and Toni (Mrs. Frank Pavlik) They came from somewhere in Bohemia and
were preceded to this country by the oldest son in the family, Vac.
The family settled on a 440-acre farm about four miles southeast of
Verdigre. Albert (1875-1943) married Albina Pavlik (1878-1928) in
approximately 1896 or 1897 and to this union were born three sons,
Edward (1898-1971), Leon (1907-1976), and Charles (1914- )
Albert continued to farm; he raised corn and became an extensive
cattle feeder until about 1929 when he moved to Winner, South
Dakota, to a 2500-acre winter wheat farm. He remained there until
his death in 1943. He is buried at the Riverside Cemetery beside his
wife who died in 1928.

the Bohemian National Cemetery (Jelen).
Eldest son Edward joined Charlie Jecminek sometime in the late 1920s
to become the firm of Jecminek-Jiracek Hardware.
This store was on the west side of the street in what now houses
part of Jedlicka's Hardware Hank, just south of Sonder's Sundries.

An interesting anecdote as related by Charlie Jiracek is that,
though he was only five years old when his grandfather died and
doesn't really remember him, the one thing that stuck in his mind
was that he wanted to be sure they would bury him with his pipe and
some money.
