FRANK AND ANNA [CERNY] JIROUSEK

Frank Jirousek, born November 19, 1859, in Bohemia, came to America with his parents, brothers, and sisters in 1872 and settled in Chicago, Illinois. Three years later, in 1875, they moved to Marion, Kansas, and two years later they moved back to Chicago, Illinois.

Anna (Cerny) Jirousek, born February 24, 1862, in Tabor, Bohemia, came to America at seven years of age with her mother and sister and settled in Chicago, Illinois, where she was employed by a German doctor.

Frank and Anna met and married on November 26, 1881, at St. Prokop's Catholic Church at Chicago. In 1882 they came to Verdigre, Nebraska, and settled on a farm east of Verdigre. In 1911 they moved to the town of Verdigre where they built a new home. They had three children, two girls and a boy; one daughter died in infancy. The children were: Mary Jirousek and Jerry Jirousek (the well-known Santa Claus of Verdigre).

In 1946 Frank and Anna moved to their daughter's home due to ill health.

Anna (Cerny) Jirousek died on New Year's Day, January l, 1948, at the age of 85.

Frank Jirousek died on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1948, at the age of 89.
