RUDOLPH A. AND LIZZIE [MASTALIR] KONOPASEK
Rudy A. Konopasek was born on June 30, 1903, at Beemer, Nebraska. He
attended rural Beemer school and then moved with his family to
Neligh, Nebraska, and finally in 1920 to Verdigre.
For several years he worked with the Peck Well Drilling Company,
which drilled wells using a wood frame that was turned by horses.
On February 18, 1929, he married Lizzie Mastalir at Center. They
farmed on several places west of Verdigre until they bought a farm
five miles west and 1 ¼ miles north of town.
Their daughter Norma Jean was born living, and son Jerry was
born living.
They were involved in farming for a total of 47 years, planting
crops, milking cows, and raising hogs and chickens. Hard work was a
daily routine during the years of depression, drought, and
blizzards.
They retired and moved to town in 1977. Rudy remained very active
and drove out to his son Jerry’s farm almost every day to help with
whatever needed to be done. He was especially good at taking apart
and repairing machinery.

Rudy passed away on June 23, 1986. Mrs. Konopasek resides in their
home in Verdigre.
Their daughter Norma married Delbert Uhlik of Verdigre and they
reside in Fremont, Nebraska. They are the parents of six sons: Joe,
Jim, Delbert, Jr., Doug, Charles, and Christopher, and one daughter,
Mary Jo.
