AUGUST AND ANNA [MICEK] KOTROUS

[pg 301 PHOTO August Kotrous on 82nd birthday]

August Kotrous, son of John and Anna (Hracky) Kotrous, was born in Pierce County on August 1, 1894. At the age of seven, he moved to the Verdigre area with his parents and siblings. On January 23, 1917, he married Anna Micek.

The couple had five children: Mrs. Albert (Helen) Meyer, Mrs. F. Roy (Elsie) Hansen, Mrs. Alvin (Dorothy) Zila, Marvin, and Bill.

They farmed near Verdigre until 1944 when they retired and moved to town. August worked with Dr. John Bruce for many years, for the Knox County bridge crew, and then for Dr. V. A. Walstrom.

After the death of his wife, August moved to the Czech Alps Terrace and then, in 1980 when his health was failing, he moved to Alpine Village where he died April 19, 1984.
