EDWARD J. AND MARY E. [NEDOROST] KOTROUS

Edward J. Kotrous and Mary E. Nedorost were married June 30, 1915, in Verdigre. Edward J. was born November 13, 1889, in Filmore County, near Milligan, Nebraska, to Andrew Kotrous and Anna Salek. Mary E. Nedorost was born August 19, 1887, to Vac Nedorost and Katherine Prokop.

After their marriage, they farmed on different farms in Knox County all their lives. They had four children: Elaine, LaVaine, Duane, and LaMonte.

Elaine lives in Omaha, and LaVaine lives in Kensett, Iowa. Duane suffered a massive heart attack at Allied Chemical Plant and died in 1968. LaMonte lives in Verdigre. All of the boys had nicknames: LaVaine was lover, Duane was Duke, and LaMonte was Perk.

LaVaine, who was later on in life adopted by John D. and Agnes L. Pavlik, worked at the Martin Bomber Plant and then went into the Army during World War II.

Duane was a civilian worker at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed, and he stayed there throughout World War II as a sheet-metal worker. LaMonte served in the Navy Construction (Seabees) during World War II.

Their mother, Mary E. Kotrous, died in July of 1943 and Edward J. died in May of 1982. Both are buried at Riverside Cemetery, Verdigre, Nebraska.
