FRANK V. AND BARBARA [MALY] KOTROUS

Frank V. Kotrous, son of John Kotrous and Anna Hracky Kotrous, was born April 13, 1889, in Pierce County, Nebraska. He grew to manhood in Knox County, living with his maternal grandparents, Jan Hracky and Marie Novak, on a farm two miles west of Verdigre.

His parents moved to Knox County in 1902. Frank V. resided in the Verdigre community until his death. He was married to Barbara Maly on August 31, 1909, in St. Wenceslaus Church by Father Petlach. Together they farmed for many years two miles west of Verdigre. After retiring from farming in 1945, they moved to Verdigre.

Frank passed away January 8, 1975, at Alpine Village at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 25 days.

His wife Barbara Maly Kotrous was born May 30, 1886, on a farm ½ mile from Verdigre. She passed away March 1, 1976, at the age of 89 years.

To this union nine children were born: Mrs. Otto (Lucille) Uhlir of Verdigre, Alfred F. Kotrous of Omaha, Nebraska, Fred J. Kotrous of Winnetoon, Frank J. Kotrous, Omaha (deceased), LeRoy V. Kotrous of Verdigre (deceased), Mrs. John (Leona) McGlynn, Omaha, Mrs. Leonard (Marie) Boelter, Mrs. Paul (Marcella) Sukup, and Mrs. Bernard (Mildred) Sukup, all of Verdigre. There are 24 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
