NEIL AND PATRICIA PAESL] LISKA

Neil Lawrence Liska was born living, in Creighton, Nebraska. He is the third child of Lawrence A. and Kathryn (Nielsen) Liska. His two older sisters are Mrs. Mike (Doris) McCormick and Kathy Liska.

Neil attended a rural school, Sparta District No. 50, through the eighth grade. He graduated from Niobrara High School in 1971. After attending classes at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for one year he settled down to farming with his father in 1972. He also worked at Currey Farms in Atkinson, Nebraska, during harvest season from 1972-76.

Patricia Ann Paesl was born living, in Bloomfield, Nebraska. She is the fourth child of Marvin and Helen (Kral) Paesl. She has two sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Dale (Marilyn) Sukup, Joseph, Raymond, and Mrs. Daral (Virginia) Grim.

Pat attended a rural school, Jelen District No 27, through the sixth grade and graduated from Verdigre High School in 1973.

Neil and Pat met in November of 1973 and dated 2 ½ years before they married on May 29, 1976. Their wedding day was also the 25th Wedding Anniversary of Pat’s parents, Marvin and Helen Paesl.

While Neil continued farming, Pat worked at the Niobrara Public School as a teacher’s aide from August 1976 until living, when their first son, Shane Neil, was born. Shane was a year old when Pat started working at Heaton’s Food Center. She continues employment at the same business place now known as Frank’s Food Mart.

Cole Patrick, Neil and Pat’s second son, was born living. Cole picked the worst blizzard of the season to make his entrance into this world. Neil barely made it home through the drifts.

Neil, Pat, and sons are presently living in a house built in the early 1900s by Frank Hajek. The cement blocks it is made of were handmade on the building site. Their farm, known as the Fosterman Place, once belonged to Pat’s uncle and aunt, Tony and Lillian Paesl.
