VAC AND ANNA [KOTROUS] MALY

On April 29, 1913, Anna Kotrous was married to Vac Maly by Father Petlach in the St. Wenceslaus Church. Their attendants were Mrs. Fred Studeny and Emon Kotrous.

Anna was born near Plainview to John and Anna Kotrous on July 12, 1890. Later the Kotrous family moved to a Verdigre farm west of the Jaros place. She came from a family of fifteen children.

Vac, son of Frank and Barbara Maly, was born at Verdigre on January 6, 1893. He came from a family of nine children.

Vac took his bride to a farm west of town where they made their home for 12 years. This farm is now owned by Dr. Carlson (formerly by Ben Roubicek). During these years, Anna and Vac encountered the hardships of drought and unproductive years, but also years of happiness, for within this time, they were blessed with two children, a daughter Irene and a son Vac, Jr.

After selling this farm in 1925, Vac moved his family to Verdigre while a new home was being built on the Maly homestead where they lived the rest of their lives. Anna died at the age of 75 years.

In the fall of 1933, Irene married Leo Steinbach of Verdel. Leo is the son of the late Tom and Mary Steinbach. They live on a farm south of Verdel and have two sons, Dennis of Niobrara, and Dick who lives at Fremont.
