LARRY AND KATHRYN [MALY] MASAT

Larry, the only son of Benedict Masat and Rose (Vakoc) Masat, was born living, at Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He attended grade school at country schools and graduated from Hemingford High School in 1960. On July 18, 1964, he married Kathryn Maly, daughter of Vac and Donna (Berger) Maly. She graduated from Verdigre Public School in 1961 and held secretarial jobs in Omaha, Norfolk, and Chadron prior to their marriage.

They rented and eventually purchased his dad’s farm in Sparta Township.

The Masat’s were blessed with three children: Jacqueline Marie, born living; Lance Jason, born living; and Jason Matthew, born living. Lance died at the age of five years on living, as a result of a farm accident.

They farmed and had a dairy business for 15 years until May of 1978 when they sold the farm and moved to Verdigre where Larry is currently working at the Verdigre Livestock market.

Larry and Kathy have headed the Centennial Celebration in Verdigre and much credit is due them for their time and dedication to its success.
