VACLAV F. AND BARBORA [HERCIK] MINARIK
Vaclav F. Minarik, better known as Vac F. Minarik, was a son of
Vaclav (1829-1906) and Barbora Minarik and was born September 28,
1861, in the village of Voralna, near the town of Labacice in the
Podebrady sector of the district of Caslav, Bohemia. He immigrated
by himself to America when he was 18 years of age. His parents and
sister, Jane, who married Frank Ruzicka, followed later. They all
settled on the same farm in the Pischelville area, living in a log
house. Before he married Barbora Hercik on September 7, 1886, he
built a new house, not too far away from his parents’ log house.
Barbora A. Hercik, daughter of Vaclav (1841-1928) and Barbora (Vesely)
Hercik (1846-1915), was born November 25, 1870, probably in the
village of Voralna, Podebrady, Caslav in Bohemia. She came to this
country at the age of eight years with her parents and younger
sister, Frances (1875-1958). Another sister, Anna (married Joseph F.
Wirth), was born in this country (1881-1967).

December 4, 1887, married Mary Filip. He died March 18, 1974.

during a diphtheria epidemic. Henry, born March 5, 1891, married

and married Milos Vonasek. She died July 18, 1984. Fred was born
March 9, 1895, and married Tillie Hrbek. He died July 18, 1985.
Edward was born May 2, 1899.
Vac F. taught music and the Czech language, holding classes at the
Pischelville school. He was a photographer, served on the school
board, election board, and was a census enumerator for many years.
He was a leader of the Minarik Orchestra which he organized and with
his sons played at dances.
Vac F. Minarik died January 23, 1938; his wife, Barbora preceded him
in death on January 2, 1933. Both are buried at the Bohemian
National Cemetery at Pischelville.
