JOSEPH O. NIKL

Joseph O. Nikl, son of Joseph Nikl, was born at Brno, Moravia, on February 11, 1865. He had a sister named Mary (Spacil) and a brother Frank.

In 1888 Joseph married Frances Hejmanek, born May 29, 1865. The couple lived at Husinec where he was a master shoemaker. There were four children: Marie, Frank, Joseph, and Charles (who died at six months of age in Brno).

Joseph O. Nikl died March 31, 1941. His wife Frances died February 5, 1923. (his second wife, Cecile (Hormek) Nikl died August 11, 1950.) Their first son, Joe F. Nikl, was born in Brno, Moravia, October 24, 1888. He came to the United States at the age of 17 years. He married Mary Mastalir on April 9, 1912, and to this union one daughter was born, Lydia on August 10, 1912. Lydia married Emil Vonasek on May 14, 1935. They had no family. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary at Verdigre on May 19, 1985. Lydia’s father died November 17, 1957, and her mother died January 28, 1958.

The second son of Joseph and Frances was Frank T. Nikl. He was also born at Brno, Moravia, and came to the United States in June of 1912. His birth date was November 11, 1889. He died January 4, 1971, having never married.

Their third child, a daughter, Marie O. Nikl, was born September 5, 1895, at Brno. She died August 18, 1975. Marie married Frank Mlady on April 5, 1915, at her parents’ home west of Verdigre in Jelen, Nebraska. A son Alfred and daughter Helen were born to this union.

Alfred was born living, and married Bertha Faith on living, in Creighton, Nebraska. She was born living. Their four children are: Glenda Faith Mlady, Gail Lynn Mlady, Terry Lea Mlady, and Sandra Sue Mlady.

Glenda, born living, married Warren Reimer on June 2, 1969, and they have a son, Joel Warren Reimer, born living.

Gail was born living, and is single.

Terry was born living, and married Leon Boecker on September 11, 1976. They have a daughter Cara Mlady Boecker, born living.

Sandra was born living, and she married Dean Wilken. They have two children, Mallorie, born living, and Faith Wilken and Chase Joseph, born living.
