NICHOLAS AND LAVINA [TITUS] OBERLE

On August 11, 1875, Lavina Titus was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Titus in the town of Rigdon, Indiana. At the age of eight she traveled with her parents and sister Ollie to Nebraska, settling near Redbird. In 1891 she was married to Nicholas Oberle, who was born on February 14, 1868, in Jackson County, Illinois. At the age of 16, Nicholas moved with his family to Holt County, Nebraska. In 1889 he began farming in Knox County and in 1890 he tree-claimed land east of Verdigre on which he and his bride, Lavina Titus, built a house and raised five children: Myrtle, Florence, Claude, Eva, and George.
