EDWIN S. AND MARGUERITE [VONDRACEK] PAVLIK

Edwin S. (Buddy) Pavlik, who was born living, is the oldest son of Edwin D. and Christina (Guenther) Pavlik.

Marguerite V. Vondracek, born living, is a daughter of George J. and Mamie (Holan) Vondracek.

They were married on June 12, 1950, at St. Wenceslaus Church in Verdigre, Nebraska. They made their home in Verdigre where Buddy was employed as clerk at the local Post Office. He was appointed Postmaster on August 22, 1964, and retired from the postal Service on January 9, 1981, after 39 years of service.

They operated the Greenhouse, “Pavliks’ Floral Gardens,” with the Edwin D. Pavliks until 1965.

They are the parents of five children:

David Eugene was born on living. He graduated from Verdigre High School in 1970. He received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Creighton University, Omaha in 1974, and a Masters of Science degree in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska, Omaha, in 1979. In 1972 he married Barbara Kreycik in Verdigre, Nebraska. They had two daughters, Christina Marie, born living, and Jessica Lynn, born living. They were divorced in 1979. On February 10, 1983, David and Margaret (Peggy Clark Campbell, born living, were married in Omaha, Nebraska. They are the parents of a son, Matthew Lyman, born living, and a daughter, Elizabeth Rose, born living. Both were born in Omaha, Nebraska. Peggy grew up in Sterling, Colorado. She graduated from Creighton University in Omaha in 1972 and received her M. A. degree from the University of Nebraska, Omaha, in 1982. David is employed by the Omaha Public Schools as a Supervisor of Secondary Special Education Program. Peggy is also employed by the Omaha Public Schools as a Special Education teacher.

Peter Edwin was born living. He graduated from Verdigre High School and attended Wayne State College. He received a diploma in Piano Tuning and Repair from Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City, Iowa; an Associate of Arts Degree from the University of South Dakota at Springfield, and a B.M.E. degree from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. On May 26, 1984, Peter and Mary MacCormick McHie, born living, were married in Omaha, Nebraska. They have one son, Vincent McHie, who was born living. Mary graduated from Osseo, Minnesota, High School and attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She is presently employed by Northwestern Bell in Omaha as Systems Design Consultant. Peter is a high school music teacher and a piano tuner.

Terrance Lee was born on living. He graduated from Verdigre High School in 1973. He married Jolene Stephens in 1974. They had two sons, Timothy Lee, born Jliving, and Jeremy Jon, born living. They were divorced in 1979. On October 1, 1983, Terrance and Rita Schmitz Murphy, born living, of Madison, Nebraska, were married in Norfolk. They have three children, Eric Scott Murphy (living), Ryan Robert Murphy (living), and Alisha Ann Pavlik (living). On January 8, 1986, Terrance adopted Eric and Ryan and they are now “Pavliks.” Terrance works as a brick mason at Nucor Steel in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Anne Marie was born on living. She graduated from Verdigre High School in 1975. She received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood from Kearney State College. She worked at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre as secretary and CCD Director and also at Day Cares in Norfolk. On June 20, 1981, Anne married Steve McManigal, born living, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre. They have three children, Sara Mae (living), Joshua Jon (living), and Stephanie Anne (living). Steve received a B.A.E. Degree and a M.A. in Social Sciences Degree from Wayne State College. They live in Wisner, Nebraska, where Steve teaches Government and American History and coaches girls’ basketball at Wisner-Pilger High School. Anne is the Director of Religious Education (K-8 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner.

Gregory Paul was born on living. After graduation from Verdigre High School in 1981, he worked in Omaha and attended Creighton University for two years and the University of Nebraska, Omaha, for one year. On December 1, 1984, he married Hollis (Holly) Carson, born living. Holly attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion and graduated from Patricia Stevens College in Omaha. After their marriage, they resided in Omaha where Gregory was employed by Good Specialties Co. of Omaha and Holly worked at the Hyatt Hotel World-wide Reservations Center at Omaha. In January of 1987, they moved to Wayne, Nebraska, where Gregory is furthering his education at Wayne State College.

Buddy and Marguerite still reside in Verdigre. They also spend part of their summers at their family cabin in northern Minnesota.
