On May 25, 1902, he married Antonia Jiracek. They farmed until 1906 when they moved to Verdigre and operated a saloon. He returned to farming and threshed grain until his death on September 17, 1944.

Three daughters were born to them, one died in infancy. Evelyn was born in 1905 and married Joe A. Mastalir, and Eleanor was born in 1907 and died in 1977.
