Carrie was the second daughter of Thomas A. and Antonia Houzvicka Tikalsky and was born January 9, 1890. After their marriage on April 15, 1914, Joseph M. and his bride lived on the old homestead his parents having moved to Verdigre. They stayed on this farm until 1945, and in 1947 they moved into the house which his father had built in Verdigre. There were two children, Joseph T. and Carrie Ann, who married Leo Vesely.

Joseph M. Pavlik died January 29, 1968, and Carrie M. followed him to the grave on July 5, 1973.
