BEN AND ANNA [VYBORNY] SEDIVY

Ben Sedivy, son of Joseph and Marie Roza Sedivy, was born in Chicago on December 30, 1865. His parents were recent immigrants from Bohemia. In 1869 the family left Chicago bound for L’Eau Qui Court County, Nebraska, under the auspices of the Ceska Osada. The Sedivys, including married daughters, moved to Virginia in 1890 after farming in the area. It was there that Ben met and married Anna Vyborny. Anna Christine, daughter of Henry and Josephine Vyborny, was born at Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on March 13, 1872.

In 1893 the couple left Virginia, settling near Niobrara. In 1900 they bought a farm 12 miles west of Verdigre. There were ten children, including triplets born April 18, 1895. The only one to survive, Charles, died in 1916. Their children were: Agnes (Mrs. Julius Farnik), 1892-1966; Carl (one of the triplets, two died at birth), 1895-1916; Rose (Mrs. James Bartos), 1897-1941; Pauline (Mrs. Frank Konopasek), born in 1900 or 1901; Theodore R., 1907-1970; Frank H., born in 1909; Julia (Mrs. Hugh Barnes); and Georgia (Mrs. Joseph V. Kalas), born 1913.

Ben lived in California after the death of his wife on June 25, 1954. He died in Encino on September 25, 1957.
