JOHN AND AMELIA [NIKL] SEDIVY
Amelia Nikl, daughter of Frank and Terezie Nikl, was born July 8,
1872, in Moravia, and died June 25, 1954, in Phoenix, Arizona, at
the age of 81 years, 11 months, and 17 days. She was living with her
daughter, Evelyn, at the time.
When she was six, she came to America with her brothers and sisters
and located in Saunders County near Prague, Nebraska. Later they
moved to Holt County near O’Neill, and then moved nine miles west of
Verdigre in Knox County.
After she grew to womanhood, she was employed in Niobrara and
Verdigre for several years.
On March 4, 1894, she married John Sedivy at Niobrara. They located
on a farm ten miles west of Verdigre where they farmed until 1928
when they sold the farm and moved to Verdigre.
They had seven children, all born on the farm: Edwin, Felix, August,
Otilie, Victor, Evelyn and John.
Edwin Sedivy was born January 27, 1895, in Knox County. He married
Stazie Paesl and they had no children.
Felix Sedivy, now deceased, was born February 19, 1896, in Knox
County. He married Mary Novacek and they had two sons, Elmer and
Clarence.
August Sedivy was born October 24, 1900, in Knox County and married
Christine Kotrous. Their three children are Robert, August, Jr.
(deceased), and Janice. August is deceased.
Otilie was born July 4, 1898, in Knox County and married Barney
Kroupa. They had a daughter, Kathleen. Both Otilie and Barney are
deceased.
Victor Sedivy was born July 25, 1905, in Knox County and married
Libbie Broz. They had no children.
Evelyn, born March 16, 1909, in Knox County, married Arthur Steele
(deceased). They had no children.
John Sedivy, Jr. was born July 25, 1915, in Knox County and he died
while in the service.
