KENNETH AND PEGGY [MILLER] SONDER

Kenneth Vernon Sonder, the oldest of three boys, was born living. He attended Verdigre Public School and joined the navy on May 17, 1964. In the navy he was a machinist’s mate and worked on a distiller (where they take salt water and make fresh water). He was discharged from the navy on May 17, 1967, and started working in the water well industry. During the winter of 1968 he moved to Omaha and was employed by Layne Western, water well contractors. During this time he drove to Verdigre on weekends to drill wells.

In May of 1970 they moved back to Verdigre and established Sonder Well Company. In May of 1971, they purchased a home from Juanita Woods and this was his first place of business.

On December 4, 1974, Ken purchased his present place of business from D & D Clothing. He built a 25x50’ addition in April of 1976. Ken became a World Homes dealer. In April of 1975, a lot was purchased from Agnes Stoural and he built his present home.

In 1980, a 44x60’ Bonanza building was erected for his present warehouse.

Besides drilling wells, he has expanded into plumbing, wiring, pipe line, sprinkling systems, and a clay equipment franchise.
