DALE AND MARILYN [PAESL] SUKUP

Dale Laurence and Marilyn Elizabeth Sukup live on a farm eight miles southwest of Verdigre. Their farm was originally homesteaded as a timber claim by Dale’s great-grandmother, Marie Sukup, in 1885.

Dale was born living. His parents are Laurence and Helen (Frank) Sukup. He has two sisters, Shirley Cederburg and Darlene Costello, both of Norfolk, Nebraska.

Marilyn was born on living. Her parents are Marvin and Helen (Kral) Paesl. She has two brothers, Joseph and Raymond Paesl, both of Verdigre, and two sisters, Patricia Liska of Verdigre and Virginia Grim of Wayne, Nebraska.

Dale and Marilyn attended Verdigre area schools and both graduated from Verdigre High School.

After graduation Dale enlisted in the United States Army. He completed basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas, and then was permanently assigned to Fort Eustis, Virginia, where he was a clerk-typist for the duration of his enlistment. After the service, Dale returned to Verdigre to fulfill his dream of farming the land his grandfather, Andrew Sukup, had homesteaded.

After her graduation, Marilyn lived at her parent’s home and at Lincoln where she was employed at Mail Advertising Corporation.

On October 15, 1976, Dale and Marilyn were married at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre, to which they belong as parishioners today. They have lived on their farm since their marriage.

Dale and Marilyn have two children: Mary Beth, born living, and Ross Andrew, born living.
