On August 26, 1945, he married Elinor Block, daughter of August and
Bessie Buxton Block, of the Venus area. Elinor graduated from
Creighton High School and taught rural school for two years.
After their marriage they continued farming on the same farm Leo’s
parents lived at the time of their marriage in 1904. They also have
a business known as Sukup Fertilizer Service, selling liquid
fertilizer.
Since 1966 they have been raising purebred registered Angus cattle,
selling breeding stock. For the past ten years they have had an
annual production sale.
Leo has served on the Logan Township Board for over 40 years and
both are active in civic and church affairs.
They are the parents of two children, Karen (Mrs. Vance Hansen) of
Orchard and Lyle Sukup of Verdigre. They have two grandchildren,
Jason and Jamie Hansen.
