WALTER AND JOAN [VECERA] SUKUP

Joan Vecera, daughter of Frank and Sylvia Juracek Vecera, was born in living and attended Verdigre Public School. She enjoyed music and sang for many occasions. She gave a senior recital in 1949 and graduated in 1950. Joan attended Wayne State College and then taught in rural schools.

She was married to Walter Sukup in 1952 and they farmed southwest of Verdigre and raised Angus cattle. Joan continued to be involved in music and had the role of Golda in the two summer productions of “Fiddler on the Roof.” She was a catechism teacher for many years.

Walter was active in the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the school board.

They have four children: Marie J(Sukup) Vondracek, Walter, Jr., Kenneth, and Glenn.
