OTTO W. AND LUCILLE [KOTROUS] UHLIR
Otto W. Uhlir, son of Anna Hrbek Uhlir and John B. Uhlir of
Knoxville, was born on a farm 16 miles west of Verdigre on March 15,
1902. He grew to manhood on his parents’ farm. He graduated from the
Verdigre Public School with the class of 1920. Thereafter, he
attended the University of Nebraska and Valparaiso University at
Valparaiso, Indiana.
On November 23, 1937, he was united in marriage to Lucille Kotrous.
They lived on a farm 15 ˝ miles northwest of Verdigre until 1976
when they moved to a home in Verdigre where they still reside.

Lucille Kotrous Uhlir, a daughter of Frank and Barbara Kotrous, was
born July 6, 1910, on a farm two miles west of Verdigre. She
graduated from Verdigre Public School in 1929. Prior to her marriage
in 1937, she was a teacher in rural schools of Knox County.
A son, Arden William, was born living. He married Karen
Miller June 19, 1960. They have two children, Katherine Ann, born
living, and Jeffery Arden, born living. A second
son, Neil Eugene Uhlir, was born to Otto and Lucille on living. He married Barbara Jean Little on June 19, 1976. She was
killed in a car accident June 22, 1976.
