STANLEY AND LILLIAN [SLADEK] WAGNER

Lillian Sladek, daughter of Frank Sladek, Sr., and Anna Mudra, was born October 6, 1909. She graduated from Verdigre High School in 1922 and then attended beauty school in Omaha. She operated a beauty shoppe in Verdigre for several years, both in her parents’ home and in business places in town.

On September 8, 1934, she married Stanley Wagner of Tabor, South Dakota. The wedding was performed by Father Charles Oborny in the St. Wenceslaus Church in Verdigre.

Stanley worked in a bank in Tyndall, South Dakota, and Lillian operated her Beauty Shoppe there. Stanley became the Supreme Secretary of the Catholic Workmen and offices were in New Prague, Minnesota, so they moved to Minneapolis. Lillian operated a beauty salon there until they both retired. Stanley held his position as Supreme Secretary for 40 years. After retirement they moved to Florida for three years, then to Mesa, Arizona, where the climate was better for them both. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1984 at the home of their daughter, Jovita, in Denver, Colorado, with all their children and families in attendance. Agnes (Stoural), her sister, and entire family chartered a bus and traveled together to Denver and joined in celebrating the occasion; the trip was enjoyed by all.

Stanley and Lillian have five children.

Gervis is a Trans-Continental Airline pilot and lives in Michigan. He flew planes during his military days and continued after his discharge.

James lives in California and is a lab technician at the University of Santa Barbara.

Nathan was a cook during his service days and continued with this occupation after his discharge. He is a chef in Fargo, North Dakota.

Guedelia Ann lives in Florida and is a teacher. Her husband travels world wide for the government in the health service for Africa.

Jovita is a registered nurse and works at a Denver hospital

All the children are married and Stanley and Lillian have several grandchildren.

Lillian died November 27, 1986.
